A Crimson Encounter

Chapter 61

Gou Feifei was jolted awake by the shrill ringing of his phone. The sound wasn't actually that loud, but as an Enigma, his senses were exceptionally keen. He easily captured the "culprit" responsible for dragging him out of his dreams. With his eyes still closed, he fumbled for the phone and answered with a note of irritation. A pleasant male voice came through the receiver. He felt a vague sense of familiarity; he was sure he had heard this voice somewhere last night... Gou Feifei’s eyes snapped open, and he froze as if struck by a bolt from the blue. He recognized the owner of the voice: it was his senior fellow student, Jin Yan. Jin Yan was a man of refined manners and extraordinary presence, possessing a powerful, ascetic aura. Like Gou Feifei, he was also an Enigma. They had happened to be on the same flight back to the country yesterday. A series of misunderstandings had led to a bit of a blunder, but fortunately, the outcome hadn't been bad. He had a good impression of his senior, and their mutual friend, Jiang Rong, had been full of praise for him. When the three of them met, they felt an immediate kinship and quickly reached a consensus to open a pet hospital together. They had talked enthusiastically over dinner that night, and after the party broke up, they hadn't forgotten to find a bar to keep the night going. He remembered... he had encountered a flash of enchanting, seductive red in that bar. And then, what happened next... Gou Feifei’s mental processor whirred at high speed. He hurriedly hung up the phone as memories of the previous night flashed back. Only then did he realize that he had given away his "first time" just like that. And to a complete stranger—an Omega! Granted... granted, he was the one who had handed over his business card, he was the one who had cast the seductive glances, and he was the one who had released his pheromones. But... but that doesn't mean I'm a bad boy! Gou Feifei was in a state of total panic. After all, a one-night stand was a first for him. Taking a sharp breath, he gently lifted the covers... He cursed inwardly. *How the hell did this happen?* He was covered in scratches. Anyone who didn't know better would think he’d gone sleepwalking in a zoo. Thinking of this, he suddenly realized something. *Wait, I just answered someone else's phone by mistake. Does that mean that person is still...* Gou Feifei swallowed hard and turned his head stiffly. That flash of red hadn't been woken up by the noise? But she looked so cute while sleeping. Without the heavy makeup, her features seemed less sharp. She didn't look as untouchable as she had during their first meeting; instead, she looked like a docile, well-behaved rabbit... Just as a small flame was about to reignite in his heart, the "red" opened her eyes. Her eyes curved, watching him with a hint of lazy playfulness. "I..." At this moment, Gou Feifei felt he had none of the composure expected of an Enigma. He couldn't handle the Omega's gaze, so he forced himself to maintain a facade of calm. "You're awake," he said, offering a mindless, cheerful smile. Seeing his reaction, the woman laughed softly. Her voice was as beautiful as the finest wind chimes hanging at the entrance of a boutique. "You were so cute when you answered my phone just now. Of course I had to wake up and listen properly," she teased. Her gaze was unshielded, as if she were the one standing at the very top of the food chain. Perhaps the desire for conquest was something truly etched into one's bones. Gou Feifei stared at those moist, bright red lips and suddenly leaned in to kiss her. To his surprise, the person being kissed showed no shyness or shock. Instead, she slowly reached out and hooked her arms around his neck. Gou Feifei’s heart skipped a beat, and his movements became increasingly bold. Gradually, he smelled the intensifying scent of red water lilies. Just like last night, it coiled around him, demanding that he sink into it. "Red Maple Leaf" had no intention of playing the gentleman. When an Omega issued such an invitation, remaining indifferent would mean he was a failure as an Enigma. They were both adults, and this was a consensual tryst. With just a little pheromone hint, they could understand each other's needs. And so, following the perfectly timed flirtation, the two of them once again fell into their mutual longing and desire. The Enigma was gentler than expected—both today and last night. They had used protection, and every move the Enigma made was filled with respect for the Omega. He thought he had performed perfectly for his first time, without a single flaw. But in the end, his defenses were shattered by the Omega's blunt words. "Last night was your first time, wasn't it?" "..." Gou Feifei admitted that in all his years—both before and after his secondary differentiation—he had never suffered such a devastating blow to his pride. But before he could explain anything, he heard even more astonishing words from the Omega. "You're an Enigma, aren't you?" Gou Feifei narrowed his eyes imperceptibly, his expression shifting for a moment. He asked her how she knew. The Omega smiled, her hands climbing up to his neck as she planted a seemingly intimate kiss on the corner of his mouth. "Because the experience was very good. For a beginner's first time, if you weren't an Enigma, I'm afraid you wouldn't have been able to pull it off like that." *First time... beginner... wouldn't have been able to pull it off...* These words were like arrows, piercing straight into Gou Feifei’s fragile little heart. Finally, he cleared his throat and said with feigned composure, "Then I suppose I should be honored." Seeing the "Red Water Lily" still smiling at him with curved eyes, he finally couldn't resist using a more passionate "kissing technique" to prove something. As it turned out, the Red Water Lily did indeed look like she was enjoying herself. He couldn't help but wonder how this Omega had managed to uncover all the facts he thought he had hidden so well in one go. So, he humbly asked for enlightenment. But he received an even more painful truth. "Because your big sister here has seen many people," she said succinctly, showing no mercy. Gou Feifei finally had a moment of clarity, reminding himself once again that he had had a one-night stand with a stranger. Feeling somewhat helpless, he looked down and shook his head with a laugh. They went to take separate showers. After freshening up, they donned the "stranger's distance" they had held before the business card was handed over last night. However, these two "strangers" didn't just part ways. Instead, they shared a breakfast that wasn't at all awkward. "Alright, I have things to do, so I'll be going now." "Okay." Gou Feifei wiped his hands and stood up. "Where are you going? Do you want me to drop you off?" The question was sincere, but mostly born of politeness. He knew this Omega was likely the type to forget someone the moment she turned her back, so he didn't hold much hope. But his upbringing dictated that he should at least be courteous. To his surprise, the Omega tilted her head, arched an eyebrow, and said, "Sure." Gou Feifei paused for a beat, then responded with a smile. He called a car and saw her to her destination. As she was about to leave, the Omega leaned down to look into the car window. Her eyes were filled with light and a smile he couldn't quite decipher. He thought she was going to say goodbye and tell him they'd never meet again. Instead, he heard a sentence he never expected. "Want to grab some late-night snacks tonight?" Gou Feifei’s heart skipped a beat. On the surface, he remained calm, the corners of his lips curling slightly as he said, "Okay." Watching the gentle sway of her waist as she walked away, Gou Feifei lowered his head and let out a helpless laugh. This Omega was truly dangerous. But he seemed to have quite a weakness for her style...
