“I’m so bored—” A mournful groan echoed through Dormitory 1308.
No one paid her any mind.
“I’m seriously so bored!” Yu Tianwu leaned against Hua Yi’s door, complaining loudly.
Hua Yi sighed, reluctantly putting down her textbook. She turned to face her roommate. “Don’t you have to study for finals?”
“Our major doesn’t really require much revision for exams. Look, ever since her boyfriend arrived, Li Zi is nowhere to be found. Xie Bing is the same—she used to practically live in the library, but now she’s actually moved in there. I only have you left, Yi’er~” Yu Tianwu counted her grievances on her fingers, her voice full of mock sorrow.
“I have my Jurisprudence exam tomorrow. I don’t have time to play with you,” Hua Yi replied, unmoved.
“Waaaah, you cruel woman!”
Yu Tianwu pouted and pulled out her phone. She noticed a recent post on the Friend Circle from an Omega senior she had met recently: *“Hell Week is driving me to the brink. I’ve been so stressed lately that my stomach problems are acting up again...”*
Her eyes lit up, and she quickly tapped on the chat box.
“Senior, are you feeling unwell? [Cautiously probing.gif]”
The status soon changed to *‘Typing...’*
“Yeah, it’s pretty miserable. How did you know?”
*How else would I know?* Yu Tianwu smirked.
“I saw your post! I came to check on you the second I saw it.”
“If you’re not feeling well, you absolutely must see a doctor! [Cat lecturing.jpg]”
“Thanks for the concern, Tianwu. But I might need a gastroscopy, and I’m a bit scared to go under anesthesia alone...”
The implication was clear; he was waiting for her to offer.
“Ah, then I’ll go with you.”
After receiving his thanks, Yu Tianwu was revitalized. She tossed her hair back and said spiritedly, “I’m heading out on a date! Bye, Yiyi!”
Hua Yi didn’t even look up, long accustomed to her roommate’s fickle nature. “Just remember to be back before the curfew check.”
*I wonder which poor boy she’s hooked now,* Hua Yi thought, shaking her head. This roommate of hers flaunted her bottomless flirtatiousness everywhere; it wouldn’t surprise Hua Yi if it backfired on her one day.
“Hmm-hmm~”
The flirtatious Yu Tianwu hummed a tuneless melody as she walked to the school gate to meet her date.
A boy was already waiting there. He wore a checkered vest over a white shirt, with a coat draped over his arm. He looked clean-cut and handsome. When he saw Yu Tianwu approaching, he smiled and waved.
“Tianwu, over here.”
“Xia Xia!” Yu Tianwu ran toward him.
At the nickname, the boy blushed slightly. “Why do you keep calling me that? I’m the senior here.”
“I just think it sounds more intimate, Xia Xia.” As she spoke, Yu Tianwu remembered something. She pulled a scarf from her bag and handed it to him. “It’s so cold today; you need to bundle up.”
Xia Tian was a bit overwhelmed by the gesture. “Is this scarf for me?”
Yu Tianwu nodded, then reached out to wrap the scarf around his neck. “It really suits you.”
Though it was a birthday gift someone else had given her, she figured using it as a ‘borrowed favor’ was a good way to put it to use. The recipient, of course, had no such thoughts; his ears were burning.
“Let’s go, Senior. We’re heading to the Central Hospital. Did you book an appointment?”
“Yeah, I checked just now. A chief physician happened to have an opening.”
“Awesome, so lucky!” Yu Tianwu gave him an exaggerated thumbs-up, making him chuckle.
As they chatted, Xia Tian moved to hail a taxi, but Yu Tianwu stopped him. “I have a driver’s license, Senior.”
Xia Tian was puzzled. “So, you have a car here?”
“Not exactly, but my car is always parked near the school gate. Let me drive you today! Don’t worry, my driving skills are on par with the God of Mount Akina!”
Xia Tian couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright then, my ‘God of Mount Akina’ junior.”
Yu Tianwu told him to wait by the curb for a minute, then ran to the corner to retrieve her car. Her vehicle was just like her—bold and flashy. A rose-red sports car pulled up in front of Xia Tian with a low roar.
*My junior is really rich,* Xia Tian couldn't help but think.
The window rolled down, and Yu Tianwu waved from the driver’s seat. “Hop in, Xia Xia!”
Where should he sit? He actually wanted to sit in the passenger seat, but there seemed to be some things placed there, and Yu Tianwu showed no intention of moving them. He conscientiously opened the back door and climbed in.
The drive wasn't quiet. Xia Tian was curious about her background. “You’re only a freshman. Does your family let you drive already?”
“Mhm, yeah. Actually, I’ve known how to drive since I was sixteen.”
“This model looks like Porsche’s new release for this year?”
“Oh? Do you know about cars, Senior?”
“Not really. My older brother likes them; he sent me a photo of this model before.”
“I see,” Yu Tianwu nodded.
“Speaking of which, what do your parents do?”
Yu Tianwu hadn't expected him to ask so directly. She glanced at the boy in the rearview mirror; he seemed genuinely curious without any ulterior motives.
She answered casually, “They’re both in the entertainment industry.”
Xia Tian sensed a hint of coldness in her tone and didn't pursue the topic. Instead, he shifted to talking about roommates. “One of my roommates just got into a relationship. He spends every night on the phone for hours. His Alpha is a Psychology major. I remember you have a roommate in that department too, right?”
Yu Tianwu immediately perked up. “Yes, yes! My Li Zi. Her partner came to visit recently, and now she’s out every day, completely ignoring us.”
The two, both feeling neglected by their coupled-up roommates, shared a smile through the mirror, and the atmosphere lightened again.
Zhennan City Central Hospital was one of the best in the country, with people from out of town lining up every year for treatment. Even on a weekday morning, the hospital was teeming with people, and the queues were incredibly long.
“Thank goodness I made an appointment. We can go straight to the department,” Xia Tian said with relief as they struggled through the crowd, nearly being pushed apart.
“Yeah, this is terrifying.” Yu Tianwu shielded Xia Tian, wanting to leave as soon as possible. She had never realized hospitals were this scary; suddenly, her family’s private doctor seemed like a godsend.
They arrived just in time. After the doctor examined Xia Tian, he ordered an immediate gastroscopy.
“Did you eat breakfast? What did you have yesterday?”
“I haven't had breakfast yet... I was too busy.” At this, he received disapproving looks from both Yu Tianwu and the doctor. “I had porridge yesterday.”
“That works. You can do the gastroscopy today. Do you want general anesthesia or what?” The doctor began writing in the medical record.
“General anesthesia, please. I’m a bit scared,” Xia Tian said softly.
“Fine. Take this and go to the second floor to register with your partner. The nurse will tell you what to do.”
The doctor handed the slip to Xia Tian, only to see the boy’s face turn bright red.
“What? Do you have a fever too?”
“No. Thank you, Doctor.” Xia Tian grabbed the papers and hurried out of the consultation room.
As soon as they were outside, he apologized to Yu Tianwu. “I’m sorry, the doctor misunderstood our relationship...”
Although he really liked her and she didn't seem to treat him like a stranger, having his feelings called out like that was a total social death for him.
“Hahaha, it’s fine.” Yu Tianwu patted his shoulder, unbothered. “Let’s head to the second floor first.”
She didn't deny it, but she didn't say much else either. This ambiguous attitude left Xia Tian’s heart itching with curiosity. *What does she really think? I set that post to be visible only to her, and she really did come to check on me immediately. Does she feel the same way?*
Xia Tian couldn't help but subconsciously touch the scarf around his neck. He held onto that thought until he was lying on the bed in the examination room. *Sigh, I really want to have a sweet, sappy relationship like my roommate.* He closed his eyes.
Yu Tianwu sat bored on a bench in the hallway, tapping away at her phone. *Ugh, still so bored.*
“Alright, thank you, Doctor. Sorry to trouble you. I’ll definitely bring my father in for a check-up.”
Suddenly, a familiar voice drifted out from the neighboring department.
*Eh?*
She craned her neck to look. It was a clean-cut Alpha boy wearing a simple down jacket—someone who clearly didn't know how to dress up—bowing to a doctor.
*Isn't that the friend of Li Zi’s boyfriend?*
She thought back carefully. *Who was it again? What was his name?*
“Ah! The Liu Yan I kissed!”
She realized who it was and called out in a loud whisper, “Hey! Hey! Brother Yan! Over here! I’m Yu Tianwu, Li Zi’s friend!”
Liu Yan turned around in confusion and saw the girl waving at him. The scene from that night flashed through his mind, the deep embarrassment still fresh in his memory. But with everyone in the hallway looking at them, he couldn't pretend not to know her. He could only wave back cautiously.
“Ah, hello. Long time no see.”
