Back to Starry Rebirth: The Warden and the Outlaw’s Interstellar Revenge

The Master's Playground

Chapter 94

As a master weapon smith who had stood at the absolute zenith of the Federation before his rebirth, Feng Zhixi’s definition of "small experimental tools" differed significantly from the norm—especially when his subject was a Star Bug. A biological entity existing in high-dimensional space was such a rare specimen for experimentation. As he sorted through the "small weapons" he carried with him, Feng Zhixi pondered a question: where would be the best place to conduct his experiments? However, the ever-considerate Warden had already prepared the perfect solution. Ji Yeran naturally took the Omega’s hand. Seeing Feng Zhixi look toward him, he offered a gentle smile and led him outside. Without asking where they were going, Feng Zhixi followed, observing their surroundings as they walked. Ji Yeran led him through a manicured hedge, revealing a three-story, white, gabled villa. As they reached the entrance, the silver doors slid open to reveal a pristine white corridor. One door, two doors, three doors—after passing through three silver-white security gates with Ji Yeran, the interior of the house was fully revealed. Sunlight streamed through a glass dome, illuminating the space. The semi-open three-story interior was connected by a spiral staircase, and silver-white experimental instruments were neatly organized into various categories. It was, for all intents and purposes, a small, independent laboratory module. Feng Zhixi hadn't expected to find a laboratory here. He blinked, turning his head toward the Alpha beside him, his eyes bright with a clear, shimmering smile. "Mine?" Feng Zhixi asked, laughing softly. Ji Yeran nodded. However, what he truly wanted Feng Zhixi to see wasn't just this. He waited patiently for Feng Zhixi to finish touring the small lab before pressing his palm against the console of the main optical computer. As the computer recognized his biological code, a door slid open on the white wall next to the left staircase, revealing a transport pod. Ji Yeran pulled Feng Zhixi inside. When the pod doors closed and then opened again, Feng Zhixi stepped out to find himself standing on a high platform. Looking down, he saw a massive, silver-white expanse. Translucent partitions divided the enormous space into different zones, each filled with countless instruments organized by function. It was identical to the laboratory Feng Zhixi owned on his small private planet—this was an independent laboratory that met the standards of the Federation's core star sectors. Looking at the laboratory before him, Feng Zhixi’s eyes instantly lit up. He glanced back at Ji Yeran, his gaze full of starlight. Seeing the Omega’s sparkling eyes, Ji Yeran couldn't help but smile. Thus, under the Alpha’s doting gaze, the Omega—his eyes curved into crescents with joy—began his "little experiment." Walking to the main control console, Feng Zhixi pulled up the laboratory data and was pleasantly surprised to find a small curvature fission experimental chamber. This was a specialized military-grade chamber, the ultimate testing ground for energy weapons. it would provide the perfect stage to showcase the "not-so-ordinary" power of his little toys. Having finally found the ideal venue, Feng Zhixi turned his gaze toward the Star Bug. At that moment, as if sensing some impending danger, the bug—which had been acting unyielding while wrapped in its black yarn ball—couldn't help but tremble. Soon, the captured Star Bug, ball and all, was sent into the curvature fission chamber. As the chamber sealed shut, the holographic display of the main console showed the image of the black yarn ball. In the massive projection, the stiff-bodied spider appeared gargantuan and exceptionally hideous. Standing before the console, Feng Zhixi connected his "small tool box" to the system. He reached out, lightly tapping the yarn ball in the holographic image, and began his delightful little experiment. As Feng Zhixi initiated the sequence, a light as brilliant as a galaxy enveloped the Star Bug... The experimental process was beautiful and harmonious—so harmonious that the little light ball, which had followed the "young cub" all the way there, was left utterly shell-shocked. After all, anyone would be scared to death watching a living creature be slowly consumed and dismantled into grains of dust right before their eyes. As a light ball that had seen its fair share of cosmic storms, the pink little sphere tilted its face up, staring blankly at the grayish-black particles filling the space in the hologram, and at the bug still trapped in the core of the black yarn ball. Of course, at this moment, the creature hardly looked like a bug anymore. Having lost its eight appendages, the Star Bug looked like a black gourd hanging upside down—and this gourd was shaking like a leaf. While the little light ball shivered in terror, Feng Zhixi, who was focused on dismantling the bug, had only just reached the third type of weapon. If nothing else, this bug was quite useful—it had a remarkably thick hide. Glancing at his "small tool box," Feng Zhixi wore a quiet smile. In the eyes of the Star Bug, however, that smile was nothing short of diabolical.
