Jiang Siyang burst into laughter, and Zhang Jin'an followed suit. They laughed for a while before finally settling down.
Once he caught his breath, Jiang Siyang asked, "But what does 'encore' mean?"
"A curtain call," Zhang Jin'an explained. "It means doing it one more time... Oh, right. Regarding what Su Zhiyang said yesterday, do you have any thoughts?"
Jiang Siyang paused, remembering what Zhang Jin'an was referring to. "Speaking of that, I originally wanted to ask what it was, but the cameras started rolling. I didn't have time to check my phone afterward, so I forgot."
"It's fine. We're nearing the end of filming, so it's normal for the schedule to be tight and the intensity to be high. I didn't check my phone either; I only just remembered," Zhang Jin'an said, lightly patting Jiang Siyang’s back. "If you have any questions, just ask me."
"What exactly does this 'team building' involve?" Jiang Siyang asked curiously.
Yesterday at noon, Su Zhiyang had tagged everyone in the 'Second Textile Machinery' group chat, dropping a message about 'team building time and location.' A flurry of discussion had followed, leaving Jiang Siyang completely bewildered.
"He calls it 'team building' to make it sound nice, but in plain terms, it just means finding a place to hang out for a day. We do this every year—pick a time when everyone is off work and head out. If it rains, we just hang out indoors," Zhang Jin'an explained. "But don't be fooled by how many people are in that group; they're all flakes. Because of filming schedules, it's rare for everyone to make it. The only ones who show up every year are me, Silly Su, Teacher Gu, and Teacher Qian. The others just join if they can."
Jiang Siyang nodded. "Oh... so that's where those group photos you posted came from."
"The photos? On Weibo? Yeah." Every year during their outing, they would post a group photo, though it had been over a year since the last one. He wondered how Jiang Siyang knew about that.
An answer that delighted him came to mind, and Zhang Jin'an couldn't help but nudge Jiang Siyang’s arm with his own. "Be honest now, Student Jiang. Do you browse my Weibo often? How else would you know about stuff from a year ago?"
To his surprise, the younger man didn't show the bashfulness he expected. Instead, Jiang Siyang looked him straight in the eye and gave two solemn nods. "Yes. Am I not your fan? I've followed you since a long time ago, so of course I saw them."
"..." Zhang Jin'an was momentarily choked up by Jiang Siyang’s earnest expression. On second thought, it made sense; Jiang Siyang was so different from everyone else. Why would he be shy about something like this?
Zhang Jin'an sighed and smiled inwardly. He really was helpless against Jiang Siyang. How could there be someone in this world who made him fall so hard?
"But only four people? Isn't that a bit few? I saw six or seven people in the photos," Jiang Siyang noted.
Zhang Jin'an answered seriously on the surface, but his feet quietly edged closer to Jiang Siyang. "If there aren't many people, we'll invite friends from outside the group. Like Jiang Mengxin—if the location is close to her, she usually comes. If you know anyone, you can invite them too."
"Then the timing..."
"About the timing—Silly Su, Old Gu, Teacher Qian, and I can all arrange our own schedules. As long as we aren't on a film set, any time works for us," Zhang Jin'an said. "Oh, but it's best if it's before December 27th."
Jiang Siyang opened his phone to check his itinerary. Zhang Jin'an slowly shuffled even closer, resting his right hand on Jiang Siyang’s shoulder while his left hand held his water glass, taking slow sips.
After half a minute, Jiang Siyang said, "I'm free from December 12th to the 20th."
Zhang Jin'an nodded. "Great, that's perfect. I'll tell Silly Su and we'll pick a day within that window."
"And the location?" Jiang Siyang asked. "Indoors or outdoors?"
Zhang Jin'an replied, "We discussed it a long time ago. It was indoors before, so this year we want to find a guesthouse in the countryside. Last year, some netizens said they wanted to see us do a vlog, so Su Zhiyang prepared a few mini-games."
"I think Little South Mountain is quite nice."
"But everyone's been there already. We want to go somewhere different."
"Kunming?" Jiang Siyang suggested. "It gets a bit cold in December, but the scenery is best then."
"Kunming... alright, I'll keep that suggestion in mind," Zhang Jin'an said with a smile, leaning in to plant a kiss on Jiang Siyang’s cheek.
The two chatted for a while longer before Zhang Jin'an checked the time. "It's getting late. I should head back."
"Mhm," Jiang Siyang agreed.
Zhang Jin'an walked to the door and smiled at Jiang Siyang, who had followed him. "It's such a short distance; you don't need to see me out."
Jiang Siyang shook his head, looking mysterious. "I'm not seeing you out. I want to give you something else." He paused. "Brother, your hand."
"What?" Zhang Jin'an didn't know what he was up to, but he obediently held out his palm. Immediately, Jiang Siyang placed his hand on top of his. Zhang Jin'an instinctively gripped Jiang Siyang’s hand, only to be pulled forward with a bit of force. Caught off balance, he took a step forward.
And then, he received a kiss.
Jiang Siyang’s lips landed softly against his. It happened so suddenly that Zhang Jin'an didn't have time to react, so his eyes remained open. He saw Jiang Siyang’s long, slender lashes and felt a slight tremor in the hand he was holding.
Understanding dawned in Zhang Jin'an’s heart. With a soft smile, his other hand climbed up to rest on the waist of the person before him, deepening the kiss.
Jiang Siyang had given him a beautiful dream; how could he not return the favor?
What was meant to be a kiss as light as a dragonfly skimming the water was extended by him for a full thirty seconds.
As Zhang Jin'an helped Jiang Siyang straighten his tie afterward, his fingertips intentionally brushed against the other man's Adam's apple.
"..." Jiang Siyang said nothing, only watching him with those eyes.
Who could escape the gaze of a lover? If it weren't truly getting late, Zhang Jin'an wouldn't have wanted to leave at all.
Zhang Jin'an leaned into Jiang Siyang’s ear and whispered, "I'm going. See you tomorrow."
Whenever they parted, they liked to say "See you tomorrow" or "See you the day after." It was their little ritual, a reminder that they would meet again in the future.
"See you tomorrow," Jiang Siyang responded.
Zhang Jin'an gave him one last smile before pushing the door open and returning to his own room.
