"Good morning, General Manager, Vice General Manager." As Yu Luoyan walked into the Yu Xia offices with her arm linked through Que Tang’s, employees along the way greeted them one after another.
Que Tang smiled and returned their greetings, while Yu Luoyan merely gave a slight nod of acknowledgment. Only when she looked at Que Tang did her calm, placid eyes ripple with a smile that reached the corners of her lips.
The entire company had already known they were close, but now that the two were appearing together without any pretense of concealment, it effectively confirmed that Que Tang was the new partner of the Yu family’s heiress.
Although many wondered how Yu Luoyan, who had been so stubbornly obsessed with Song Aotian for years, could fall for the new General Manager so quickly, they preferred Que Tang over Song Aotian. Since taking office, Que Tang’s "man of her word" personality had won over many employees and revitalized the working atmosphere of Yu Xia. Furthermore, seeing two beautiful executives together was a pleasing sight, becoming a unique highlight of the company.
Even the older generation, who had slight reservations about such a public display of affection in the office, only grumbled a few words when they saw them. For the most part, they turned a blind eye, given that Que Tang had given Yu Xia a complete makeover and led the company to record-breaking revenues.
Most importantly, the patriarch of the Yu family had publicly offered his support, leaving them with no room to complain.
Yu Luoyan kept her arm linked with Que Tang’s all the way to the office. Just as they reached the door, the secretary suddenly stopped them.
"General Manager, Vice General Manager... before you arrived, Mr. Song called to schedule an appointment with you both." The secretary, who had followed Que Tang in the move to Yu Xia, looked at them with a troubled expression. She was well aware of the awkward entanglement of love and hate between the three. Although the man bore the greatest responsibility, the fact that the "other woman" was now with the ex-wife made it seem as though the man had been double-cuckolded.
"I understand, thank you. I'll get back to you in a moment," Que Tang nodded, then quickly pulled the now-somber Yu Luoyan into the office.
Now that the "rice was cooked," the young miss of the Yu family’s possessiveness had reached a new peak. She kept a constant, watchful eye on Que Tang, stopping just short of tying her up with a rope. Que Tang had also finally realized just how overbearing Yu Luoyan’s personality could be. Aside from official business, she wasn't allowed to talk to others; aside from official business, she wasn't allowed to go out for meals; aside from official business...
Wasn't this clearly stating she could only talk to Yu Luoyan? Her protests had been fruitless, leaving Que Tang to massage her forehead and sigh helplessly countless times.
"Are you going to agree?" Yu Luoyan demanded immediately after being pulled into the office.
"You know Song Aotian has been making frequent moves lately, constantly snatching our orders in the market. I imagine this is the first step of what he called 'making things difficult' for us. Since our opponent has made a move, I don't intend to sit and wait for death." She pulled Yu Luoyan down to sit on the high-end leather sofa. "Besides, he asked for *us*." She deliberately emphasized the word "us" before laughing and reaching out to pinch Yu Luoyan’s cheek. "Don't forget, he’s currently trying to win you back, dear."
"He’s intentionally using price cuts to compete for orders. But weren't those the ones you threw away on purpose?" Yu Luoyan caught her hand and pulled her into her embrace.
"Losing those orders doesn't mean much for Yu Xia’s revenue. But for Song Aotian’s fledgling company, swallowing so many orders won't be easy." Que Tang pinned down Yu Luoyan’s restless fingers and patted the back of her hand. The other woman immediately acted spoiled to appease her. Que Tang gave a light huff before continuing, "I’m going to make sure he bites off more than he can chew."
Yu Luoyan pursed her lips and smiled. "I understand. I'll leave everything to your arrangement then."
Que Tang had the secretary call Song Aotian to set a time. He impatiently requested the afternoon. Que Tang and Yu Luoyan exchanged a look, and with a nod of approval to the secretary, the meeting was set.
"Let’s guess what Song Aotian wants to do." Que Tang playfully put on a pair of plain-glass spectacles and walked to the whiteboard hanging on the wall, writing like a teacher. "1. Show off to me. 2. Win you back. 3. Seek a reconciliation. Personally, I think a combination of 1 and 2 is most likely."
"It doesn't matter which one it is." Yu Luoyan rested her chin on her hand, gazing at her intently. "As long as you are by my side, that’s enough."
"Meow~ Congratulations to the Host for successfully obtaining the Supporting Female Lead’s undying love. You have gained 5,000 points. Your current total is 30,000 points."
"Based on your long-standing mathematical unreliability, I must ask—is it really 30,000?" Que Tang listened to the prompt calmly and then posed the question just as calmly.
"Meow~ It should be."
"It... should... be..." Que Tang chuckled. "How can you be so irresponsible? You’re even messing up the point calculations; I bet you haven't been keeping track at all! Is your brain made of little dried fish?"
"Meow-wu~ I am the administrator of this system! I can give points however I want!" Little Mushroom snapped in embarrassment.
"You scammer cat! I knew you didn't remember the points! I told you to eat fewer dried fish but you wouldn't listen, and now you’ve gone stupid."
"You’re the stupid one! Say another word and I’ll deduct 10,000 points! Meow~" Little Mushroom shot back, refusing to back down.
"Oh? You’re threatening me now? You’re dead. I’ll make sure that for the rest of your natural life, you won't have a single dried fish to eat."
"Nooo~ Host is a bad person, a big meanie! Meow-wu~" The voice faded out and vanished.
Que Tang snorted coldly. Her guide was such a scam; it was nothing like the reliable, nice, and gentle system spirits described in novels.
"You... let's prepare first." Que Tang’s face flushed imperceptibly as she turned her head to change the subject. She was finding it harder and harder to resist Yu Luoyan. She knew this was just a game, a dream; if she invested too much, she would be the only one hurt in the end.
Biting her lip where Yu Luoyan couldn't see, she felt a deep sense of guilt for her deceptive behavior, yet she was simultaneously addicted to the other woman’s tenderness. Now, her only hope was that the Male Lead would somehow kill her off so she could escape this mission.
Seeing Que Tang’s familiar look of escaping reality, Yu Luoyan felt a bittersweet pang of conflict. She knew Que Tang must be blaming herself for "deceiving someone’s feelings." Little did she know... things were not as she thought. Reflecting on herself, Yu Luoyan suddenly felt a trace of fear... Would Que Tang ever forgive her?
"Luoyan?" After sorting out her emotions, Que Tang turned back to find the other woman dazed. She called out to her, finding it quite a novelty.
"I'm fine. Let's discuss how to handle this." Yu Luoyan snapped back to reality and looked at her with a gentle smile.
Que Tang nodded.
In the afternoon, Song Aotian arrived at Yu Xia with a large entourage. When the employees saw him, they suddenly understood why the Vice General Manager had been in a bad mood before noon. Consequently, everyone fell silent, fearing they might provoke the ill-tempered Vice General Manager.
Under the guidance of Que Tang’s secretary, Song Aotian walked into the large conference room. Que Tang and Yu Luoyan were already sitting together, chatting and laughing as they waited for them.
The gentle smile on Yu Luoyan’s face was an expression Song Aotian had never seen before. That expression, which should have belonged to him, was now displayed only for another person—and his former mistress at that. The depression of being "double-cuckolded" that he had finally managed to shake off surged back instantly.
"Luoyan." He composed himself and sat down, pulling out an A4 envelope and tossing it toward them. "These are the orders I’ve snatched from Yu Xia. Are you sure you really want to be with Que Tang?" His words implied Que Tang’s incompetence.
Yu Luoyan showed zero interest, not even glancing at it. Que Tang, however, played along, pulling out the small orders she had intentionally let go. Her face took on an anxious expression. "Luoyan, I—"
"It’s fine." Yu Luoyan squeezed her hand to comfort her.
Seeing this, Song Aotian’s fury burned even hotter.
"Luoyan, what can Que Tang give you? She can give you nothing. She can't give you a family, she can't give you children, she can't even manage a company properly." Song Aotian paused, his tone suddenly turning tender. "I know I was wrong in the past. I had you, yet I still fooled around outside. But believe me, if you come back to me, none of that will ever happen again. I truly love only you, forever."
"Your guarantee... I’ve already been betrayed once. How am I supposed to believe you again?" Yu Luoyan’s expression was disdainful. "And Song Aotian, who says we can't have a family?" She curled her lips into a smirk and lifted Que Tang’s hand, revealing matching rings on their fingers. "We are already engaged. In a while, we will go abroad to get married. As for children... science is so advanced these days, why would I need you?" She gave him a mocking glance and turned away, disinterested.
"You!" Song Aotian’s facial expression contorted. "Fine, very well. Originally, I just wanted to warn you. Even if Yu Xia is currently the largest manufacturer in the industry, don't think you can hold the top spot forever. Since I could snatch these orders from you, I can naturally take a second batch, and a third. The revenue from one order isn't much, but what about ten?"
"Are you threatening me?" Que Tang spoke up before Yu Luoyan could. "Song Aotian, you underestimate Yu Xia."
"Enough." Yu Luoyan reclaimed the conversation directly. "None of this concerns you, Mr. Song. If you have the ability, then bring Yu Xia down. But if you don't... you’d better be careful."
"...Luoyan, just you wait. I will use any means necessary to make you return to my side." Song Aotian clenched his fists to control his emotions, then stood up and left.
"Meow~ Male Lead’s Blackening Level is at 50. Even the Male Lead’s Blackening Level has been unlocked; Host is truly *moe*."
"Who wants to know about his Blackening Level?" Que Tang chuckled twice, ignoring the cat to ponder her mission.
"So cold, meow-wu~"
